RF packet reception in CC2420

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2420

Hi all,

Can anyone please explain how does a packet reception ends in cc2420 or any other ZigBee compatible RF chip ? (I am still working with cc2420 - and hope this basic thing will be same in all chips).

As far as I understand, the reading starts with a detection of SFD. But after that how the chip understands that the reception is ending - is it that it internally runs a counter and counts the number of bytes received so far - when it completes the reception of the 'len' (the 0th byte of the 128 byte packet) number of bytes - it ends - or it ends as soon as the RF signal ends ? I believe that there is no separate SFD is inserted in the packet at the end. So, the confusion is that how the reception process ends.

Would be great if someone explains - since this issue is not very clearly explained in the datasheet of cc2420.

Many thanks in advance

Sudipta.
