Using CC2650 in a Digi Zigbee X4 Coordinator Setting

Hi there,

I am wondering if anyone has any experience using Digi Gateways as Zigbee Coordinators? I believe I have a thorough enough understanding of Zigbee to move to cross company communications. I have a CC2650 that I wish to send its temperature data to the X4. The Digi devices have python enabled on them.

I am currently wondering how to bind the two devices in the temperature cluster. Seems to me that Digi uses a lot of reskinned zigbee functions known as "xbee". Will these commands work with TI chips? The digi gateway identifies and associates the CC2650 no problem but its the binding that escapes me.

The 223a device is a ZNP +ZAP Ztool end device primarily so I can see transmissions and use API. Although I can flash SensorTag End Device to it and it will appear as well.

If anyone has any experience or references that would be useful i would be very grateful. I've read pretty much all the Digi Xbee documentation and none of it seems to mention non Digi Zigbee devices.

The SensorTag example in Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a implements ZCL temperature cluster in Zigbee HA profile. If this XBee gateway and coordinator run Zigbee HA profile network, it should be no problem to read or receive temperature data from SensorTag.

I dont believe they run that Profile. It may just be a general ZCL implementation.

Then you can try to turn off Zigbee security in Z-Stack home to see if it works.

I tried that and still no dice. I am looking to see if anyone has experience writing the Python code for the gateway maybe they have some insight.

Make sure device uses the same Zigbee channel to coordinator.

Yes. They are on the same channel. Otherwise they wouldnt display on the Xbee Devices List. I can't seem to be able to bind the two is the problem.

If the problem is binding, I would suggest you to use Ubiqua Packet Analyzer to check why you cannot do binding successfully.

I have seen this. I am using the Ti packet sniffer and it appears that the SensorTag never broadcasts the data despite having a binding. How would I change the AO parameter of the SensorTag to allow ZDO pass through? When I bind ZNP+ZAP and a SensorTag I get data immediately after resetting the coordinator.

The temperature I hardcoded a value of 2200 or 0x0898 in hex which is at the end of the APS Payload.

What am I missing here?

There are both PSDs. Both after bind requests are made.

I see SensorTag join coordinator but there is no binding in SensorTagnadX4.psd.

I believe I have found the answer.

When asking socket.bind() in python for the X4 , it does not send a bind request to the device as it is an S2B radio and S2C radios have the HA profile stack. (Binding and mesh.) Now my next question is could I send an AT message in hex format to the SensorTag to make it think it is a S2C device? And handle the packet at the python level ? or will that not be possible?
