I would like to start a simple project on sensortag with cc2650.

I need to transmit/receive a simple ieee802.15.4 message on a defined channel with defined panId and address.

The other peer is a XBee connected to PC.

Is there a simple source code to perform a simple transmission and reception?

I'm going thru cc26xxware, timac and contiki, but they are too complicated for my needs, I don't want to import wagon of source files.

I don't need a complete stack like TIMAC or Zigbee. Too complicated to study, implement and debug.

What do you think is the fastest way?

1) read the datasheet and write the code from ground?
2) start from contiky?
3) start from timac?

TIMAC seems managed with IAR compiler. Can I compiled TIMAC with CCS6 or GNU?

You can try to use SmartRF Studio 7 which can send 802.15.4 packet.

Does SmartRF Studio 7 produce some usable code or is it just a test tool?

I manage to make the SensorTag send IEEE802.15.4 messages!

I started from the code of contiky.
The project is based on the simple heart beat TI-RTOS example, dynamically created task, where I send a debug message every 3s. the task is a simple while (1) with a led toggle, a send and a wait of 3000ms.

The problem is that after the first transmission, entering the task wait, the micro goes to hard fault, likey due to accessing a forbidden memory address.

I tried to increase the stack oth the task, but nothing changed.

Any hint on debugging this issue?

I copied some functions from rf-code.c and ieee-mode.c to a new library module, that exposes rf_init() and rf_send().

Iknow it's a dirty thing, but (latest news!) the code works if I execure rf_init() and rf_send() from main(), but the issue remains if I move the code to a task.

Hi Andrea,

I am trying to do similar work to copy the radio related functions from contiki, can you please explain in detail what functions and headers you copied over to run rf_init, rf_send, rf_recieve, rf_inthandler etc.

Sorry, I freezed the project. I remember I copied some files here and there, ad cleanup to leave only the code I needed. I long boring task.

At the end I have some issues with power consumpion. I think when I'll back on the project, I'll restart from the beginnin using TI-RTOS (In the first writer I started with a bare main()).
