Hello,

I do an exploratory study on sensor-networks and its costs. The specification of the target sensor-network is the following:

- single node guaranteed range = 500 meters in open space with obstacles (trees and plants)
- dynamic mesh-topology-communication with at least 4000 thousand nodes in square pattern
- sensor-sampling rate shall be 1 / minute
- data rate per sensor node shall be at least 80 byte / minute
- Possibility to connect at least 3 sensors to the chip
- Wireless reprogramming shall be possible

The most important goal is cost efficiency / low power consumption / robustness. What chip can you recommend and how much could it ruffly cost for a quantity of 150.000 units per year?

I never see a single mesh network running 4000 thousand nodes. I would suggest you to break down 4000 thousand nodes into several separate mesh network, for example, 20 and each has 200 nodes. You can consider CC2530 for this application. As for single node to have 500 meters in open space with obstacles, you would need to add PA/LNA such as CC2592 and a good antenna to achive this.

The data rate I need is veeery low. Therefor some low data & high range chip should be available. With 6LowPAN a lot of nodes should be possible to operate in one network. Any ideas?

You can use Contiki 6LowPAN but I don't see any real case that use 4 thousands node in a single network. You still need PA/LNA for high range.
