Hello,

I am using a freescale customized board with zigbee antena to program for TS-9ZB temperature sensor.

I am able to read the temperature using the sample application provided with the Z-Stack.

I need help with rebuilding the sample app to do the following. Please let me know if it is feasible to do so? I am new to Zigbee and have no idea about how to do this?

1] The board should directly communicate with the temperature sensor and store the collected data in some file. Without opening two terminals each time to run the zigbee server and demo app.

2] The c program should work as both server and client to communicate with the sensor.

Thank you for responding. Actually it's not about the board. I need help for rebuilding the Sample app so that i don't have to run server and demo app in two terminals.

It's a customized board, or let's consider it is beagle bone black. As per the Z-Stack Linux Gateway User Guide. We have to run the ./zigbeeHAgw <target board> and ./start_application scripts in two terminals. Which then runs the Demo app and we can communicate with the sensor. What I want to do is to communicate with the sensor using just one c program. Is it doable ?

Yes, I think it's possible. You can contact TI local representative to sign SLA to get full source code and revise on it by yourself.

If I need to sign SLA to get full source code does this mean that the code under Z-Stack Linux Gateway/Source directory is not complete source code? And I am not sure about how to contact TI local representative, and does signing the SLA costs money? or Is it free just lile the Z-Stack Linux Gateway?

Yes, the code under Z-Stack Linux Gateway/Source directory is not complete source code. As I know, SLA doesn't cost money.

Hello YiKai Chen, Thank you for responding. Is there any guide for programing for zig-bee sensor in c language, where I can find some hello world zig-bee c program that communicates with the zig-bee sensor?

What I meant is, I want to write a single c program that will directly interact with the Zig-Bee sensor without using all the source code of z-stack linux gateway.

YK Chen,

You post regarding the zigbee gateway application software package being incomplete was a surprise to me as well. I am also trying to rebuild the supplied app so that I may modify it to be completely controllable from a python script running remotely for testing purposes. I will contact our local/regional rep immediately to get an SLA in the works. Do you know specifically what additional SW I will need to successfully build the original app completely?

I ask so I will be prepared for any questions the TI rep may ask.

I have all source code and everything is running fine - thanks for all your help.

I now want to run the demo app remotely, say from a device IP address 192.168.10.10 but I have little experience with ethernet IP and I am unsure which parameter(s) I need to change so the demo app runs on this remote machine connected on same network as the BBB.

Is this something simple or will I need to rewrite the socket interfaces in the NWK_MGR and Gateway servers?

you simply need to run the sample application on your remote machine (the one with 192.168.10.10 IP address), and configure the sample application to connect to the gateway server and the network manager server with the different IP address of the local machine.

Just curious on your Freescale board, which silicon is the ZigBee radio from?

We provide the Z-Stack Linux Gateway as Linux SW implementing a Home Automation ZigBee protocol, but this must be combined with a TI micro-controller radio.

I have the BBB configured with the TI Zstack demo and gateway firmware . I am using the TI 2531... no freescale, all TI.

My question is "how" do i I configure the demo to communicate to the BBB addr 192.168.7.2? I do not see any config file for the demo that specifies the IP address of the servers. When I run tcpdump on the BBB the demo only talks to the servers internally over the loopback.

1) Connect your host FS platform to a local network, and not the IP address
2) run the zigbeeHAgw script on that machine
3) go to your remote machine, which is in the same subnet as the FS device. Copy the example application binaries and the start_application script. Modify the start_application script and replace the local IP address of the servers (127.0.0.1) it connects to with the IP address of your FS platform
