Range of CC2531 USB dongle about 5m

Hi everyone,

I'm using CC2531 USB dongle as Coordinator with GenericApp of z-stack Mesh network. But when i tested the range Tx,Rx of USB dongle only about 5m.

Could you please show me config to extend the range?

It is not right. When I test with it, it can reach at least 30 meters in line-of-sight distance. What's your end device?

My ZE and ZR is made from GB2530 as below link

When i test the ZC and ZED as GB2530 is OK (> 30m).
Do you test it with GenericeApp FW of z-stack mesh? What's your end device?

I had tested GenericApp with CC2531 USB dongle and CC2530DK. The distance is more than 30 meters.

Can I increase the range by change TX power of CC2531 USB dongle?

I suggest you to use SmartRF Studio to do PER test between your CC2531 and GB2530 first.

Hi Yikai,

As your suggestion, I tested with FW as below'

1) CC2531 USB dongle with sniffer_fw_cc2531.hex

2) GB2530 with End Device of GenericApp

The range is OK (>40m)

What's different between FW sniffer and GenericApp, It mean the config of Tx, Rx of device?

I don't have source code of sniffer but I think there should be no difference in TX/RX settings between it and GenericApp.
