cc2530 debug mode is not working

Hi All,

I am working on flashing CC2530 through TI's AM57xx host processor.

When I start flashing CC2530, first we put the chip into debug mode. I can see two falling-edge transitions on pin debug clock, while the

RESET_N input is held low and than RESET_N pin to high. Even after that I feel that CC2530 is not going into Debug mode, because when we give any command to Chip after putting it to DEBUG mode, it does not respond back.

Are there any timing sequence we need to follow to put CC2530 into debug mode?

Please suggest some solutions. I need help barely.

If you want to debug CC2530, you should use CC debugger or SmartRF05EB to do t.

I am attempting also to flash a 2530. I am using a TI AM335x CPU running GNU/Linux. I found this source code to get me started:

Initially, I simply wanted to read the chip identity information to prove our hardware was reasonably correct. It was failing to do even that.

Initial debug printfs added to the code indicated that I was not getting a valid response from the chip- see the section in cc2530prog.c::cc2530_do_cmd() regarding "Coping with commands requiring a response delay". This was timing out with the CC2530 data line never going low.

I could not find any other help, so I continued adding debug messages at lower levels in the code to see if I could identify a problem in the source or my use of it. I eventually added debug printfs for every bit read and write and then it started working. Unfortunately, it only worked 2 or 3 times and now I cannot get it to work again!

I suspected the CPU is running too quickly and cycling the clock faster than the CC2530 would like, but I cannot find the magic combination of delays that works consistently.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

(I guess I should have done a little more reading before completing my post...)

There is an issue posted to the code I linked to above that discusses problems with timing as well as a possible additional step. I am going to try the suggested changes from there.

The CC Debugger works great when working with a board that has the correct physical interface. I am working with a custom board having only the debug mode available through P2_1 and P2_2.

FWIW- adding the delays as suggested in the issue discussion (https://github.com/ffainelli/cc2530prog/issues/1) has allowed the program to run as expected.
