Hi,

I am currently working on the project where I need to establish communication between ZigBee coordinator based on CC2530 with other ZigBee end device. This device is based on TI chip as well and ZigBee 2006 protocol specification. It also uses encryption on APS layer only (no NWK encryption). I need to be able to communicate with coordinator using UART.

Which Z-Stack project is better to use as template considering info above? At least for proof-of-concept.

Zigbee 2006 protocol is obsolete. Latest Z-Stack all uses Zigbee Pro.

Considering that fact that ZigBee 2006 support was dropped, what could be the options? Are there significant incompatibility issues with ZigBee Pro? Or if I go with TIMAC in this particular case, can you give some advice how to decrypt APS layer data? In other words, can I reuse TIMAC decryption mechanism somehow?

Is there any specific reason that you cannot use latest Z-Stack?

This is what I am going to investigate. 3rd party device uses ZigBee 2006. As I understand there can be some issues if I try to use ZigBee PRO on coordinator.

I suggest you to contact TI local representative to see if you can sign NDA to get it.

OK, will see what I can do. I just realized that I cannot use ZigBee PRO as there is mandatory requirement for using NWK security, which I don't have in my project.

As I know, NWK security can be disable by define SECURE=0 in f8wconfig.cfg even you use Zigbee Pro.

Yes, I also found it. Some contradictory information is stated here:

Do you know how to disable ZigBee PRO feature set? Because when I comment -DZIGBEEPRO in f8wconfig.cfg I get next errors during compiling:

I am using project "C:\Texas Instruments\ZStack-CC2530-2.5.1a\Projects\zstack\Utilities\SerialApp\CC2530DB\SerialApp.eww"

If I remember correctly, Z-Stack 2.5.1a already use Zigbee Pro and you cannot disable it.

It is strange because README.txt states next:

ZigBee 2007 Release

Version 2.5.1a

April 25, 2012

Notices:

- ZStack-CC2530 has been certified for ZigBee/ZigBee-PRO compliance and

has achieved certification from National Technical Systems (NTS) for the

SE 1.1 profile (including OTA cluster). The SE 1.1 profile is certified to

meet test criteria mandated by the SE 1.1 test specification (095312r30).

- Z-Stack supports the ZigBee 2007 Specification, including features such

as PanID Conflict Resolution, Frequency Agility, and Fragmentation. The

ZigBee 2007 Specification (www.zigbee.org) defines two ZigBee stack

profiles, ZigBee and ZigBee-Pro. ZStack-2.5.1 provides support for both

of these profiles. See the Z-Stack Developer's Guide for details.
