We have a product using the CC2530.The SPI interface of CC2530 connection external FLASH. CC2530 is the SPI master. Use USART1 the alternative1. Hardware connections are as follows. Test found that there is no clock signal output P0.3. When modified to use USART0 of the alternative1, test P0.5, The CC2530 have clock output. Why? If the special requirements of IC, Why did not the notation description in the specification?

Hi Kamxiao,

It looks like an issue with the peripheral priority for access to the I/O pins. Since several peripherals can have access to the same pin, one needs to set the priority between them. In the case of USART 1 on P0, P2DIR.PRIP0 should be set to '01'. That will give USART 1 access to P0.3. This is further explained in section "7.6.5 UART 1" in the "CC253x User's Guide".

hi i am new to cc2530. can any one help me how to configure the cc2530 as SPI master and slave device.

i had written the code for USRT0 in alternative 1 function to use it as SPI. but i wont get any signal while transmitting and receiving the data. even the clock pulse is also not generating. Please help me.............

A good reference for using the CC2530 SPI to connect an external Flash part, and thus using the CC2530 SPI as a master, would be the OAD. Download the Z-Stack 2.3.1 release:

Then look at how hal_oad.c communicates with the external Flash connected to the SPI when this compile option is set to be TRUE: HAL_OAD_XNV_IS_SPI

Note how the XNV_SPI_INIT() macros sets up the SPI and how HalSPIRead and HalSPIWrite read and write the SPI.

To see how the external part is connected to the SPI, refer to the schematics of the SmartRF05EB board:

I have a problem about the SPI of CC2530,when I write a BYTE to USART1,the both of URX1IF and UTX1IF flag is set to "1"?

Hi Bo,

The SPI is a full duplex protocol, so you will always receive while you are transmitting (even if it's just 0x00 or 0xFF depending on the state of the MISO pin). If you do not intend to receive anything, I would just disable the receive interrupt.

I have a problem about CC2530's UART Flow Control, I want to know what time is The RTS output a high ?,when a byte reach to U0DBUF,I have not read the bufer,so, the UxCSR.RX_BYTE bit is set to 1,but RTS output is a low 。when I send another a byte ,then,RTS output is a high. if like this ,we will lost a byte in Flow Control use.?

hi,

You need not to use the pins RTS and CTS, only by using the pins TX and RX you can easily communicate with other devices.

I was trying to rebuild "spi_rf_tst.eww" and got a compile error, "Error[Pe020]: identifier "DMA_WORDSIZE_unit8" is undefined. How can I fix this? This workspace is for testing SPI with Basic RF function, correct? I'm going to attach a peripheral to CC2530 through SPI interface. Once the peripheral works with CC2530, I want to get data of the peripheral through another CC2530. Is "spi_rf_tst.eww" suitable test module for my purpose? I have no experience to develop software so any comments on this would be highly appreciated.
