CC2650STK: CC2650STK Magnetometer data Validity

Part Number: CC2650STK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650

Hello,

I am successfully able to receive the data from the magnetometer MPU9250 of cc2650 sensor tag. Now, I am trying to find out how I can check whether the x,y,z components being received are correct or not.

Through the data sheet, I have come to know that x-axis of MPU9250 accelerometer aligns with the y-axis of  MPU9250 magnetometer. So to check the magnetometer data, I started checking wrt accelerometer data and my data are somewhat like this and also, I am not converting Magnetometer data to uT (unit for Magnetometer data) and just the raw data with calibration applied,  mag.X= mag.X*cal.X<<8 where calX is the calibration data received from calibration register of MPU9250. I am not converting to uT bcoz I am trying to find out direction through heading formula and that has atan2(y/x) type of formula.

MPU Acc: X=0.08 G
MPU Acc: Y=-0.99 G
MPU Acc: Z=0.21 G
MPU Mag:X=> 282  Y=> 419 Z=> -283

MPU Acc: X=-0.06 G
MPU Acc: Y=0.98 G
MPU Acc: Z=0.26 G
MPU Mag:X=> 165 Y=> 439 Z=> -527

MPU Acc: X=-1.01 G
MPU Acc: Y=-0.01 G
MPU Acc: Z=0.20 G
MPU Mag:X => -553  Y=> 309 Z=> 726

MPU Acc: X=-0.92 G
MPU Acc: Y=0.00 G
MPU Acc: Z=0.22 G
MPU Mag:X => 749 Y=> 3026 Z=> -4438

I am not able to assess the data successfully.  I need a way that could help me in judging my data.

Regards

Vartika

  • Hello Vartika,

    The SensorTag sample project just reports the values read from the MPU9250. I suggest connecting with Invensense (MPU9250 manufacturer) for guidance in interpreting the sensor data values.

    Best wishes
