CC2538: Using Non-Volatile memory to store variables

Greetings,

I was wondering how to use the non-volatile memory to store variables that is not erased after power off. According to CC25xx Z-Stack Developer's Guide (in Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a), I can create my own NV item. But since this part was not clear in the guide, I have some questions:

1. Can the non-volatile memory hold its data forever (like ROM) or there is a time limit ?

2. How can I create my own NV item? and is there a size limit?

1. There is no time limit but there is erase times limit. If I remember correctly, it can be erase 20000 times.
2. You can use osal_nv_write() and osal_nv_read() for this purpose. The following code is an example to write/read a byte on NV

uint8 nv_test=0;
uint16 nv_test_id=0x0401;
osal_nv_item_init(nv_test_id, 1, NULL);

osal_nv_write(nv_test_id, 0, 1, &nv_test);
osal_nv_read(nv_test_id, 0, 1, &nv_test);

But is there a size limit of using the NV memory? Or the limit here is just the flash memory size?

If I remember correctly, it reserved 4K for application and you can use NV ID starts from 0x0401.
