CC2530: Response time is slow

Hi,

I wanted to know why the CC2530 response time is about 2 seconds when the Poll Rate is 1 second. Is there any way to make the response time faster using SampleLight?

Try to set polling rate to shorter such as 500 ms.

It does make the response time faster. However I want to keep the Poll Rate at 1 second to save power. Why might the response time take 2 seconds though?

I suggest you to use sniffer to check what happens over the air.

The sniffer shows that the response time varies from 2-3 seconds from the end device. So what do you think may cause this delay?

I believe my problem is due to a lot of 2.4ghz devices which are interfering with the CC2530. Is there a way to make the CC2530 better cope with this interference or reduce the interference?

There are 16 Zigbee channels so you can try to use another channel which is less interference.

Well my Smartthings hub uses channel 15, so I have to use channel 15. Does the CC2592 Range extender reduce interference? Or are there other possibilities to reduce interference?

CC2592 only increases TX power and RX sensitivity. It doesn't help much on interference. I suggest you to contact smart things to see how to change channel from Hub.

Besides changing the channel or the poll rate, what other options could I try to make the CC2530 work around the interference?

There are two other poll rate, QUEUED_POLL_RATE and RESPONSE_POLL_RATE but I don't think they are related to your issue.

The default values of both are 100 and that's is pretty short. I don't think it would help in your case. Anyway, you can try.
