Other Parts Discussed in Thread: Z-STACK, CC253
Hi,
I've noticed that using the Z-Stack platform, I am not able to get any of my CC2530 modules to receive/transmit from a long range. The range distance I've tested is the size of a room before signal is lost. I use a Smartthings hub as a coordinator and a CC2530 as an end device. I've tested in multiple environments (less wifi, less bluetooth, etc.), but the range is still about the size of a room. I've tried modules with range extenders (with PA/LNA setup), PCB antennas, and external antennas. However there isn't much difference among all of these CC2530 modules. I tested a commercial smart outlet connected to the Smartthings hub and the range was very far, much farther than the CC2530 modules programmed with Z-Stack. I don't believe the CC2530 modules are a cause of the range problem because I've tried a bunch which all say they can range about 50-100 meters indoor and the manufactures of these modules have done extensive testing and ensure reliability, long range, etc. So I believe there is something I'm missing when configuring in Z-Stack. I've tried both Z-Stack 1.2 and 3.0, but I don't see any difference in range distance. Can anyone please help me on this problem? I'd very much appreciate any suggestions!
