CC2538: Does CC2538 support XDS110 to download the image

Part Number: CC2538
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1310

Hi Team,

Does CC2538 support to use XDS110 download image?

I tried to use XDS110 JTAG on CC1310 Launchpad connect to CC2538EM board, on the SmartRF Flash Programmer the device couldn't be identified.

I tried 2pin and 4pin JTAG, both does not work.

But from the below link, it shows CC2538 support XDS110.

Could you help to check?

Thanks.

  • I can verify that XDS110 debug emulator can be used to program image on CC2538. See screenshot:

  • Hi Øyvind,

    Thanks for your help.

What's the hardware connection between XDS110 and CC2538, in my test I connected TMS/TCK/TDI/TDO/RESET/GND between XDS110 and CC2538.

Will it related to firmware version in TM4C device in XDS110?

    Thanks.

    Victor Xu.

  • The connections you mentioned seems correct. In my test I used SmartRF06EB and a the Debugger Devpack that comes together with the Sensor tag. That means the XDS110 debugger and the CC2538EM was powered separately. The XDS110 debugger through the connected USB cable and the CC2538EM got power from th e SmartRF06EB board.

If you connect with the SmartRF Flash Programmer it will ask for a FW update if that is required.

    Regards,
    Øyvind

  • Hi Øyvind,

Since I didn't have the Devpack in hands, did you verify it using the XDS110 from CC1310 Launchpad.

I try to borrow a Devpack from colleague if they have, will let you the result.

    Thanks.

    Victor Xu

  • I have now tried with a CC1310 Launchpad and that works fine. Removed all the jumpers on the LP except for the LEDs. Used a 10 pin flat cable and connected the "XDS110 out" on the CC1310 LP with "P410" on SmartRF06EB (Removed all jumpers from P408). Both boards powered with a USB cable.
