CC2592: the ANT port properties.

Part Number: CC2592

Hi,

could you please comment below two questions about the CC2592 ANT port? thanks.

1. if ANT port keep "open load" during TX mode, will the chip will be damaged? is there a native protection mechanism?

2. what's the impedance of the ANT port? what's the hamonics level from the port?

  • 1. if ANT port keep "open load" during TX mode, will the chip will be damaged? is there a native protection mechanism?

    • There is no protection built into the device and yes it is possible to damage the device.

    2. what's the impedance of the ANT port? what's the hamonics level from the port?

    • The output impedance of the CC2592 is very low, something like 4-8 ohms. This is why the matching network is required to match to 50ohms.

  • Hi Thomas,
    Thanks for your reply.
do you have the optimize impedance value on both input/output of the ANTport? I am going to do some external circuit simulation with it.
    Thanks.

  • Hi Thomas,
regarding to below concern. Is there a Rating number of VSWR to avoid damaging the device?

  • To my knowledge we don't have a SWR limit.

A question on the side: In the customer product, how is it possible to end up with a open antenna port?
  • Hi Torstein,

    thanks.

This is an engineering installation issue.

it is a remote monitor system (zigbee newwork) of Base Station. After build up the system, they found, sometimes, the worker (without RF knowlage of couse) will power on system with forgetting to screw on the SMA antenna.

this is why, they need to consider the risk.
