CC2538: CC2538 Sleep Current raised up >100uA when first time enter into PM2

Part Number: CC2538
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: Z-STACK

Hi Team,

I take the default CC2538 End Device example from Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a.

Remove the LCD and LED related peripherals, also set the key as interrupt instead of polling.

Setting poll rate to 10s.

1)

When the CC2538 first time finish the network joining, the current will go to 1.35uA, means the device already get to PM2.

After that, the current will raise up to about 100uA and drop down to 1.35uA again. The procedure took about ~14s.

After that everything works fine.

2)

When reset the CC2538, it will rejoin to the network. Then will see the current raised up again.

From the test, it seems the issue happened when the device first time power up/first time enter to sleep.

Could you help to check why? It should be easily replicated.

Thanks.

  • Hello Victor,

According to document, www.ti.com/.../swra456.pdf Section 5.2, Table 2, a Wake up from Sleep Peak1 up to 95.71mA, Is expected coming from PM2. But if I understand correctly the >100uA that you are obtaining happens after all the joining/ rejoining procedure is over correct? And it takes ~14s to go down to 1.35uA correct? But during this time there was no polling again? I'm setting up the scenario to make the measurement, but I was wondering if you could provide the appropriate steps to make it. Are you using the same measurement as in section 4.1 of the referenced document?
