CC2530: what does acknowledgement field in frame control field indicate?? MAC layer acknowledgement or application layer acknowledgement

Hi all , please the attached sniffer file. The indicated Ack.Req field of the " frame control field" request the acknowledgement from the destination source, but is it MAC layer ACK or application layer ACK??? if it's application layer ACK , how to enable application layer ACK for cc2530.

Looking forward for the help.

It's MAC ack. You can enable AF_ACK_REQUEST in options parameter when you use API AF_DataRequest to send message.

Thank you for the reply. through sniffer can we see application layer ACK???? I am basically trying to resend the message if the ACK is not received.

You have to include device association process in your psd file otherwise I cannot open it with my Ubiqua Protocol Analyzer.

That's the 802.15.4 flag for telling the receiver that the sender would like an ACK back. That's the lowest layer (above RF/radio) and it (should) is not visible above that layer. Ie, your application can't (shouldn't) see that or make use of it. Cross-layer separation is generally a good thing.
