CC2650: Development suite for Zigbee

In order to select the zigbee vendor for a new product line I would like to experiment with the CC2650 Sensor Tag and Lauch Pad.

There is a ZStack zigbee software stack available for the CC2650 but my question is do I need IAR to develop my application or is there some cheaper alternative to IAR ?

IAR is mandatory to build Z-Stack example. The alternative is to use CC2650 as ZNP but it will need an extra MCU to run as ZAP.

Hello thanks for your answer.

It rises two questions :

1. What do I need as developement environment for the ZNP solution ?

2. If I use the CC2630 which is natively configured for ZigBee do I need IAR to develop my application ?

1. There is prebuilt ZNP hex images for CC2630 so you will need XDS110 or XDS100v3 debugger to download ZNP FW into your CC2630. Other development tool depends on which MCU you run as ZAP.
2. If you mean to run Zigbee on CC2630 without using ZAP-ZNP, IAR is mandatory.
