CC2650: SimpleLink SDK for CC2650 and ZStack

I have seen that the SimpleLink SDK is mentionned in numerous documents as a good tool to accelerate application development by focussing on product diferentiators.

Is there a version of the SimpleLink SDK for CC2650 with ZStack or is there any alternatives ?

No. We have SDKs for CC13x0 and CC2640R2 but not for CC2650. If I'm not mistaken the drives for CC26xx was included in the CC13xx SDK up to v1.4.

Hi,

Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a supports the CC2650 in the End Device and ZNP (network processor) configurations only due to flash limitations. Note that the Zigbee Home Automation profile has been deprecated by the Zigbee Alliance, so devices using this profile can no longer go through certification. Also note that this Z-Stack release has been deprecated and is no longer maintained.

CC2650 doesn’t have enough flash to support full Zigbee 3.0 features so I don’t think CC2650 will support Z-Stack/SimpleLink architecture in the future. www.ti.com/.../LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1 might be the solution

Hello

I am surprised to read that the CC2650 does not have enough flash to support the full ZigBee 3.0 features.

I am trying to use the CC2650 sensortag with ZigBee. In the 4.2.2 Zigbee firmware chapter of the "Multi-Standard CC2650 SensorTag Design Guide" they give a link to the Zstack 3.0.

Indeed on this page they do not mention the CC2650.

So what is the solution then to get zigbee on the SensorTag ???

You have to use Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a which is Zigbee HA profile not Zigbee 3.0.

What are the main differences between the 1.2.2 version and the 3.0.1 ?
What are the limitations of the 1.2.2. ?

Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a is based on Zigbee HA profile and Z-Stack 3.0.1 is based on Zigbee 3.0 spec.
