Why do you need to do so?

My ultimate goal is to implement this feature into my polling function for a router configuration so I can have the router act like an end device. This way the parent will only send the router messages when it makes a data request. Do you know of any way to add your own code into the SampleLight so that the ZED may make a data request?

You can use NLME_SetPollRate to change polling rate and ZED would do polling.

What I mean is, do you know of a way to add a line of code that will just make a data request only once? Since you said it is not possible to modify this already existing function because it is not available to the application programmer, I wanted to know if you knew how to add some code that would be able to make the data request.

Z-Stack doesn’t provide such API for application Programmer. The alternative is to use NLME_SetPollRate to change polling rate and it would do data request. After that, you can change polling rate back to original.
