CC2530: Router opens network when it detects a ZED

Hi. I have a router device that is connected to a network. When I turn on the power to a ZED that has already connected to the network before, the router opens the network for joining. This is a problem because the router can then add any new device I don't want in the network. Does a ZED require the network to be open in order to rejoin the network or can it rejoin the network with the network is closed? If it doesn't need to network to be open, how can I turn off this "ZED detected = open network" feature on the router in SampleLight?

If ZED had joined this network, there is no need to enable permit join.

If you don't enable it, it is disable by default.

I did not add any permit join code, but everytime a device tries to connect to the network, the router seems to automatically open the network without me doing anything. The breakpoint below keeps on hitting every time the router sees a ZigBee device. How can I stop this from happening?

I am not sure, but when I power the ZED, the router opens the network. The Ubiqua log is attached below.

In your sniffer log, your device use rejoin to connect to ZR. It's nothing to do with permit join enable.

I think that is because your ZR calls bdb_StartCommissioning.

It's controlled by your application so you should check your application.

I set a breakpoint on all bdb_StartCommissioning and none of them were hit when I powered on ZED. Is there something else that may cause the problem?

Since the permit join duration is set to 180 seconds which is exactly matched to BDBC_MIN_COMMISSIONING_TIME define, it must be related to BDB Commission process. I suggest you to trace this part of your application.

I don't think it's good idea to remove "ZDO_RegisterForZdoCB(ZDO_PERMIT_JOIN_CBID, &uiProcessPermitJoin)". When I test default Z-Stack 3.0 example, I don't see ZR enable permit join by default. I suggest you to check what modification from you causes this.

By removing this code "ZDO_RegisterForZdoCB(ZDO_PERMIT_JOIN_CBID, &uiProcessPermitJoin)" from the UI init function, it seemed to fix my "router opening the network when detecting ZED on" problem. However I did notice that when a ZED joins a network, the ZED seems to forcefully open the network itself and doesn't close it. Is there any way to make the ZED close the network when it reconnects?

Well I notice that when the ZED joins, the router has the network closed. I re-power the ZED and then I see that the router has the network opened. I believe this the ZED causing the network to open. This is all seen in the Ubiqua log below.

Yes, I see your end device sends permit join request and you should set a breakpoint in bdb_nwkSteeringDeviceOnNwk to see who does this permit join enable.

Getting rid of this code "ZDP_MgmtPermitJoinReq( &dstAddr, BDBC_MIN_COMMISSIONING_TIME, TRUE, FALSE )" from the bdb_nwkSteeringDeviceOnNwk function seemed to fix my problem as the router nor the ZED opened the network without my permission.
