what is the difference between primary channel list and secondary channel list?

Zigbee 3.0 device would scan primary channel first and secondary channel after.

what is the significance of defining channels in the f8wconfig.cfg?

I think the channel settings in f8wconfig is not used in Z-Stack 3.0.

I have enabled only channel 13 , but still this device is joining the network which is using the default channel(on gateway console i can see it is using channel 11).

How do you set primary and secondary channel?

The settings look correct. If you use sniffer to verify it, do you see the device doing beacon on other channel, such as channel 11?

it sends beacon request on channel 11...also join the network using channel 11.

let me explain the scenario more-
1) znp+gateway are using default channel(i have not modified them)
2) the above changes m doing in router only and expecting that after changing the channel it should not join the network.

Do you do a factory reset to your router after you change primary/secondary channel?

first I program the ROUTER with the changes(configure channel 13) and then I power it off and the power on and then I check if it uses the defined channel or other channel , but it uses other channel i.e. channel -11 and join the network

Try to debug your application and see what the value is in your bdbAttributes.bdbPrimaryChannelSet and bdbAttributes.bdbSecondaryChannelSet.

what are the changes required in z-stack home gateway and ZNP to enable a particular channel for ex channel -13

You can change it in config.ini under Z-Stack GW server folder.

i have done the changes in gateway,znp,router and end device for using particular channel. (router and znp are based on cc2538-cc2592emk with z-stack 3.0 and End device is based on cc2650 with z-stack 1.2.2a)
but during i have observed that-
1) router first time join the network after programming , after this if i remove the router it does not join the network even the network is open ,it only joins the network after power off and power on cycle.
2) end device first time join the network using the defined channel, after this if i remove the end device it start using channel 11(which i have disabled),even if i do power cycle it uses channel 11

1. After you remove the router, do you see router leave and start to send beacon requests trying to find new Zigbee network.
2. Since you use CC2650 as end device, how do you configure channel?

1) yes my router do leave and start to send beacon request also it send association request, but it does not join completely , i can see association response,node descriptor request in sniffer but i can not see device announce and node descriptor response
2) in z-stack core> tools>f8wconfig.cfg I enable the particulat channel.

1. When you say remove, do you mean you send leave request to device?
2. I remember I told you you have to change channel in Z-Stack core C file instead of f8wconfig when you using CC2650 Z-Stack.

1) I remove the router from gateway terminal app by using "R" key. when I do this, i can "Remove device " and then"Leave" in the sniffer .
2) you told me to do the changes in "bdb.h " for " BDBCTL_PRIMARY_CHANNEL_LIST and BDBCTL_SECONDARY_CHANNEL_LIST"
but this file is only available in z-stack 3.0,its not there in z-stack 1.2.2a

1. Using "R" key in GW would send leave request. I suggest you to debug device code to know where the application gets stuck.
2. You should change ZSTART_MAX_CHANNELS_24GHZ in znwk_config.h instead of f8wconfig.cfg in CC2650 Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a.
