CC2538: How to do UART debug to CC2538

Hi,

I want to do debug my CC2538 MCU over UART on the very first time. I have not yet flashed any code to target, very first one itself I want to do Backdoor boot loader on UART.
Please any one tell me how can I achieve this. I don't want to use JTAG debug at all.

I have SmartRF06 Evaluation board and CC2538 Evaluation module.

Which debug you suggest for custom board first flash, how it is good over other?

I usually download my application directly to my custom board to debug directly. I suppose you an download examples in cc2538 foundation firmware to debug different IOs first.

Hi Chen,
Can you please brief what you are telling. I have played with all the foundation firmware projects with XDC100V3 debugger.

When we build our own custom PCB, we design dedicated application for it and we will download the customized FW into custom board directly to test and debug. Since I don't know what's your custom PCB for, I can only suggest you to test with examples in cc2538 foundation firmware.

I have go through the doc in the link you have shared and CC2538 ROM usage doc, what is the tool I have to use in windows PC to read boot-loader commands of ROM in CC2538

I asked wrong question, as I taught I can access/read the bootloader commands(or function cal to SBL) of ROM.

Chen, I flashed the SW in Flash Programmer2 to my CC2538EM on SmartRF06EB using USB-UART converter and its worked fine.
Can I do Mass Flash Erase of the same on UART serial interface, how?

I don’t think you can do mass erase from backdoor boot loader.

Yes, you can erase page but I don’t know if it’s the same to mass erase.

Hi Chen,
Thank you for the response, To erase page wise I has to cal "ROM_PageErase (unsigned long ulStartAddress, unsigned long ulEraseSize)" of ROM utility function library.
How can I cal these API in Backdoor, is there any tools to do this or Flash Programmer2 will support it and How?
