what does this function NLME_SetUpdateID() use for?

I find this function in several places but no more instruction about it.

Hi,

This sets the NWK Update ID field of the Beacon frame:

For more specifics about how this value is used in Zigbee networking, search for "nwkUpdateId" throughout the Zigbee PRO 2015 Specification.

OK, thanks a lot, so it only appears in beacon payload, right?

Yes, it is only used in the Beacon payload.
