Hello sir,

How can i initialize&use uart1 in Z-stack mesh version.

My applicaton requires that i want to transmit cc2538 coordinator UART (RX,TX) Data to the cc3200 UART (RX,TX).

how can i do this.

If you run GenericApp example, I remember you can use MT command to communicate with cc2538 coordinator via UART (RX,TX).

yes, i am using genericapp example & able to transmit the data from enddevice to coordinator using uart0 (usb to serial) now i want to use the uart1(P412) to get the data from from this port. How can i do this

Pins on P412 are connected to UART0 TX/RX so you cannot use them for UART1.

if P412 is connected to UART0 then i am using the API haluartwrite(HAL_uart_0,data,10); api i am not able to see the data i am using usb to ttl converter, why it is not not giving output.

and clarify me one thing is usb to serial(P1) and P412 both uses UART0?

Yes, they both use UART0. When you want to use P412, you have to remove all jumpers on XDS100v3 Emulator Bypass Header (P408).

which jtag debugger is needed to program the cc2538em without smartrfo6 means like MSP430 devices using MSP430FET debugger.

Hello Shiva,

You can still use the on-board XDS100v3 debugger, just disconnect the second group jumper of P408 (from positions 11 to 20) and connect 19 to 20 (VDD_SENSE) with a single jumper. Now you can use P412 for UART0. The thing to keep in mind is that both P408 and P412 share digital pins for UART0 so you will need to map UART1 to different digital I/O pins in order to get it working properly.

It's working fine, But I have new problem
1) I have uploaded ADC_TEMPSENSOR program from the cc2538 firmware library with smartrf06 board , and firstly i used the USB_UART port to see the output it's working and i used external UART port (P412) to see the output it is working and the used cc2538EM alone without smartRF06 board it is also working coneected using the USB TO TTL module (RF1.7(cc2538 EM)---->TX( TTL module) , RF1.9(ccc2538 EM)---->RX(TTL module) GND ----> GND).

2) I am using Zstack MESH 1.0 version with ADC reading so, i have configured one device as enddevice and one as coordinator using smartRF06 boards i am receiving the ADC data using both USB _UART and P412 , But when i am using cc2538EM(coordinator) as alone my enddevice is able to joined in the N/W i am not able to receive the data using the UART . how can i receive the data using the UART please resolve this issue.

Do you see any output on UART pin ( I suggest you to use scope to check if there’s any signal on CC2538 TX pin) when you run your application on Z-Stack mesh 1.0.0?

Do you mean the same application can see UART output with SmartRF06 but no output with CC2538EM?

yes sir,

i am checking with USB(P1) , P412 and CC2538EM alone. I dont want to use smartrf06 thats why i made changes in the code to join enddevice in the n/w directly without pressing the switches .

please tell me sir how can i get the data using the cc2538 alone.

If you use this kind of connection, you have to enable USB CDC function in CC2538.

In firmware library there is no use of cdc drivers .

And clarify me what is the difference b/w ZNP and ZSTACK (GENERICAPP EXAMPLE ) , What is it's use and how can i use that ,i think i need to configure by using ztool.

If I remember correctly, adc example from firmware library won’t output UART from USB CDC. ZNP stands for Zigbee network processor which need a extra MCU to work with. GenericApp is based on SOC mode. I mentioned ZNP in Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a because I remember it supports USB CDC which is the connection you want.

Sir i am using cc2538EM as alone with ADC reading Program uploaded and i connected to USB TO TTL module as (RF1.7(cc2538 EM)---->TX( TTL module) , RF1.9(ccc2538 EM)---->RX(TTL module) GND ----> GND) using Jumpers as able to receive the data from uart , But when i am using with the Z-stack Mesh programming i am not able to collect the data using uart and i have already shown you how i am writing the data to uart and i am able to collect the data using the SmartRF06 with same program but why not as cc2538EM as alone .

If it works with the SMARTRF06EBK over UART (not USB CDC) then it's a connection issue, I would recommend using a logic analyzer or oscilloscope to view the TX line.

I would suggest you to use working SW to run on not working HW connection to see if it works to verify if this is HW connection issue first.

Sir is it possible to get the data from the cc2538 coordinator uart pins or not , if not why ?

I confirmed operation with ZAPP_P2 and MT_TASK defined, using a simple HalUARTWrite command inside the SampleLight coordinator project of Z-Stack 3.0.1

This was just with the CC2538EM and you can compare the UART implementation between the two stacks.

USB CDC has been available to you since the start, you can evaluate it simply by operating the ZNP project with Z-Tool. You've been inquiring about back channel UART through the XDS100v3.

I imported the Z-Stack Mesh 1.0.0 GenericApp project into IAR EWARM 8.11 and only added HAL_UART=TRUE to the pre-defined options. I was afterwards able to confirm backchannel XDS100v3 UART functionality using a SMARTRF06EBK with CC2538EM (both default jumper settings) and a terminal connected to the XDS100v3 Class USB Serial COM Port at 38400 baud. I was able to confirm that the signals originate from RF1.7/PA0/UART1_RXD and RF1.9/PA1/UART1_TXD using a logic analyzer.

Now, if USB CDC interface directly from the CC3538EM is desired instead then simply add HAL_UART_USB to the pre-defined options, include the following directories (C/C++ Compiler -> Preprocessor):
$PROJ_DIR$\..\..\..\..\..\Components\usblib\cc2538\source\library
$PROJ_DIR$\..\..\..\..\..\Components\usblib\cc2538\source\library\cc2538
$PROJ_DIR$\..\..\..\..\..\Components\usblib\cc2538\source\class_cdc

And the following libraries (Linker -> Library):

Then connect directly to the CC2538EM micro USB, change the power select jumper to USB, and adjust terminal settings for the TI CC2538 USB CDC Serial COM Port with the same 38400 baud.

I see there is space between HAL_UART, =, and TRUE when you set HAL_UART=TRUE. Please remove the space to build again.
