CC2531EMK: Dongle Serial Port Emulation Not Working

Hi, I just bought a new CC2531EMK recently.

I need to use it with ztool.

Thus, I need to install the serial port emulation driver.

I had tried install the following but in vain.

I got an error "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".

C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\Drivers\vcp\ccxxxx_usb_cdc.inf

usb_cdc_driver_cc2531.inf

The dongle has a newer PID - 16AE.

While the .inf file has older PID - 16A8

Kindly guide me to solve this issue.

Hi Choon,

Make sure you are programming the CC2531EMK with the correct Z-Stack ZNP project using a CC-DEBUGGER tool before attempting to use Z-Tool.

Hi, cebal2_x64.inf does not make the dongle emulate serial port.

What OS version are you using? www.ti.com/.../swrc088

Yes and no.

I reprogrammed the CC2531EMK using CC Debugger and C:\Texas Instruments\Z-Stack 3.0.1\Projects\zstack\ZNP\CC253x\bin\CC2531SB.hex.

The device now able to show up as COM port in Device Manager.

But, Z-Tool 2.0 still show "No devices found".

I suppose you should run CC2531ZNP-without-SBL.bin or CC2531ZNP-with-SBL.hex on your CC2531EMK for Z-tool to recognize it.

Problem solved with flashing the device with CC Debugger and C:\Texas Instruments\Z-Stack 3.0.1\Projects\zstack\ZNP\CC253x\dev\CC2531ZNP-with-SBL.hex.
