Hi,

I have been reviewing some of the differences between the GenericApp and SampleLight, but just to be sure of all possible differences between these 2 sample applications, I thought I would ask. I am attempting to build off of the Generic App, but with similar functions to the SampleLight application. So what exactly are all the differences between these 2 applications, including all security, commissioning, clusters, etc. stuff (A bulleted list would be great)? I'd appreciate any help.

GenericAPP is for custom profile/cluster if you don't want to use Zigbee standard profile/cluster. SampleLight is based on Zigbee HA profile and cluster.

Hi Jack,

You can use version compare software (ex. Beyond Compare) to tell the exact differences but as long as they are sourced from the same stack version then the protocol will be the same (security, networking, commissioning, etc). Therefore you should be mostly concerned with are the application profile and clusters handled in the zcl_[project].c/h and zcl_[project]_data.c files.

1. Thanks YiKai & Ryan. I also wanted to ask why SampleLight implements the Group and Scene clusters in zcl_samplelight_data.c, but does not actually have a callback function for them in the callback table in zcl_samplelight.c?

2. Also why aren't all the mandatory attribute sets for the Scene cluster defined in zcl_samplelight_data.c?

SampleLight is just a reference example. If there’s any attribute missed, you can add it by yourself.

I can only say SampleLight might implement most parts of scene and group clusters but if there’s anything not, you have to add it by yourself.

So what exactly are the parts of scene and groups cluster that have been implemented in SampleLight? What does SampleLight currently use these clusters for?

You can search cl_GROUPS and ZCL_SCENES in SampleLight to know all of the implementations in group and scene in Z-Stack.

Ok. Is there ever a case where implementing a callback function for Groups & Scenes is necessary in the below callback table?
