HI All!

I try to migrate to Z-Stack 3.0.1 from prevision version and have same qestoin.

The first:

In document "ZNP Inteface specification" described proceduer of startup Zigbee network. For ZC na ZR I must set two flags Net_Formation and Net_staeering for startup of net. But if i star my ZR with both flags(it is the fist switch on!!!) and the ZR not found of ZC (For exaple ZC is swith off) ZR start and set up new net. And if after i start my ZC the ZC star normaly (Network Restore) but can not see ZR and ZR don't see ZC too. Can i start my ZR like ZED without Net_Formation ? I this case ZR don't setup new network and ZC can strart normaly.

The second:

I start my ZR and it normaly join to ZC. Then i start the ZED (for exaple it ZED can see ZR but don't see ZC) Is this ZED normaly join to ZR ? Or i must Pirmit _Join command on ZR? The security configuration is default.

Try to set BDB_ROUTER_FORM_DISTRIBUTED_NWK_ENABLED to 0 in bdb_interface.h.

What did do this options?
Did switch of distributed security? In this case my ZR will be find ZC?

Here you satrt stack on ZR without FORMATION flag. How i uderstund it is possible..

That test is based on ZNP which is no "#define BDB_ROUTER_FORM_DISTRIBUTED_NWK_ENABLED 1"

Hi Pavel,

1) From the What's New in ZigBee 3.0:

Network Formation (Mandatory for ZC, optional for ZR)

This method is invoked if the device did not find a suitable network to join
Create a new network:
- ZC will create a centralized security network
- ZR will create a distributed security network

So by default, if ZR is unable to find any available networks to join from a coordinator, a distributed network without a ZC will be created instead. However, this also means this network will not have the Trust Center security since there is no ZC. What YK mentioned is correct, simply set BDB_ROUTER_FORM_DISTRIBUTED_NWK_ENABLED to 0 inside the Stack/bdb/bdb_interface.h file to ensure that the ZR does not create a network.

2) I'm assuming that the ZED found the ZR first, since the ZR created its own network. If you follow the steps above, then they should all join the ZC's network when turned on and commissioning has been started.

YK has answered your first question, the answer to your second is that the ZED will join whichever parent device first responds to its beacon request and has permit join enabled, which occurs during the network steering part of commissioning. When a parent device joins the network it broadcasts a permit join request , so all parents will have permit joining enabled at the same time.
