CC2530: Poll Rate reduces occasionally on Power Up

Hi,

I have noticed that occasionally when my CC2530 is powered on, it sends a beacon request, receives a rejoin response, and then goes straight to polling at a rate of about 100 ms instead of the usual 1 second. This is very strange, and it isn't a normal rejoin process (with all the active EP, simple descriptor, basic requests, etc.). What might cause this to happen, and how could I prevent this from ever happening?

I think this is controlled by "-DRESPONSE_POLL_RATE=100" in f8wconfig.cfg.

You can start a timer event to set polling rate back to whatever value you want after device rejoins network.

I also notice when this problem happens, the ZED doesn't seem to be able to respond to ZC's commands.

Can you use a sniffer log to elaborate your problem?

I'll send log when I reproduce problem again. But essentially, when the ZED rejoins, poll rate is ~100 ms and it can't respond to on/off command sent from ZC.

I cannot judge anything without sniffer log. Will check when you attach your sniffer log.

In your sniffer log, the strange thing is that ZED 0x03B2 does polling to ZR 0x6567 but ZED 0x03B2 sends ON/Off: On message directly to ZC. Can you show me how you send ON/Off: On message in your ZED?

YiKai Chen I only have ZED 0x6567. No ZR. ZC is the one that sends on/off. I don't have a device with 0x03B2.

But, your ZED actually connects to a ZR. You can check sniffer by yourself and see it.

The only siting of 0x03B2 is in the below image. I don't see it in the traffic view. I only see ZED sending Data Requests to the ZC. Where do you see the ZED connected to ZR? Can you post a screenshot and tell line #?

Sorry, it's my mistake to check sniffer log wrong. However, I can see ON/OFF command sends to your ZED in your sniffer log so there is no problem

ZED responds MAC ack which means it receives the message so you should check your application code.

Where do you see ZED respond to MAC ack? My application code would normally respond. As I said before, this only happens occasionally, and I am unsure why.

For example, packet number 50 is the MAC ack of packet number 49 which is ZC sends ON/OFF: on to ZED.

Hi Jack,

So occasionally the ZCL generic profile callback for the On/Off cluster command is it not entered by your application after the command is sent by the ZC and MAC ACKed by the ZED? Does this happen if your end device is always on (not sleepy)?

Hi. Regarding the fast poll rate, could this: "uint16 zgRejoinPollRate = REJOIN_POLL_RATE" cause the problem?

The default value of REJOIN_POLL_RATE is 440 which is defined in f8wconfig.cfg.
