hello,

I am facing a issue when debugging cc2538 running ZNP application mounted on smartRF06 board. ZNP application is driven by host PC application over P412 UART header and I am using IAR 8.30.1 for debugging. It turns out that program in debug mode doesn't stop at breakpoints after starting host application. Before starting host application program hits every breakpoints as expected. While debug mode is active znp running as expected. I have set the count variables to be sure that program enters certain functions in which the breakpoints are set.

Do you have any suggestions?

Can you specify which breakpoints you set and doesn't stop in ZNP?

For example:
In MT_BuildAndSendZToolResponse(...) and MT_ProcessIncoming(...) functions

Yes, I can sniff uart communication at host application and znp coordinator respond to all commands as expected, network is functional.

I try to set breakpoint in MT_BuildAndSendZToolResponse and send ping command from Ztool. I see the breakpoint is hitted.

Are you using the default ZNP example that comes in the SDK, or have you modified the example?

May I also recommend you use a lower IAR version, such as 8.11.1?

I have tried to replicate the issue, but same as YK, I am hitting the breakpoints as expected.

I have modified znp example including serial bootloader. I will try to port my part of code to SDK znp example

The problem occurs when host application send MT_SYS_RESET_REQ command. Upon executing MT_SYS_RESET_REQ command ZNP running in debug mode but it doesn't stop at breakpoints any more...

Is there a way to overcome this case ?

Problem occurs when cc2538 running ZNP FW during debug session, execute MT_SYS_RESET_REQ - MT_SysReset(...) - after that target is reset and program is running correctly but does not stop at breakpoints any more.
Is there "debug safe" reset function in ZSTACK ?

To be more specific: my host application reset cc2538 sending MT_SYS_RESET_REQ command and after that program doesn't stop at breakpoints

If you send reset command, I suspect Debugger would lose trace of device and you cannot keep debugging unless you reconnect debug section.
