CC2650 and ZigBee development

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650, CC1352R, CC2652R, CC2538, CC2530, CC2650EMK, Z-STACK

Hello,

We can see on the CC2650 webpage, that it enables ZigBee.
Z-Stack is for  CC2530CC2531, and CC2538 and SimpleLink Zigbee SDK for CC26x2 and CC13x2.
What should I use in addition to CCS to program my CC2650 to send data with the ZigBee protocol?

Thank you for your response.

  • Hi Jonas,

Yes, you are able to use the CC2650 with Zigbee, however, this is a legacy device which only supports Zigbee HA 1.2.2a. This is a very old software and I would recommend switching to our new devices, such as either the CC2652R or CC1352R, as these has quarterly SDK releases with improvements and bugfixes each quarter, supporting the latest Zigbee 3.0, and have support for both CCS and IAR.

The CC2530 and CC2538 also support for Zigbee 3.0, but the SDKs are in maintenance mode.

CC2650 only supports IAR EWARM 7.40.2, and has no support for CCS.

Do you have the CC2650EMK with a SmartRF06EB? That will allow you to be able to flash your device with the images you created.

    Best,
    Sean

  • Thank you for your answer!

No I have not, i was planning to buy a SimpleLink SensorTag Debugger DevPack to flash it but didn't know that CCS doesn't support the CC2650. I've recently got thisCC2650 and was wondering how to program it as I already use sone ZigBee network.

I'll switch to the new ones if I really need the ZigBee feature.

    Kind regards
    Jonas
  • Zigbee 3.0 dose'nt support cc2650?
    Can I flash cc2650 as cc2652?
  • No, Zigbee 3.0 isn't supported on cc2650 and you cannot flash CC2650 as CC2652.
  • Pavel,

The only devices supported with Zigbee 3.0 is the legacy CC2530/CC2538 (Z-Stack 3.0.1) and our new CC2652/CC1352 devices (Z-Stack 3.x).

As YK had mentioned you are not able to flash a CC2650 as a CC2652.

    Best,
    Sean
