zigbee coordinator

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2530, CC2531, CC2650, Z-STACK, CC1352P, SIMPLELINK-CC13X2-26X2-SDK, CC2652R

I want to implement a zigbee/IP gateway like that of Samsungs smarthings hub. I have with me CC2531, a cc2530 based module (WE-1005) and cc2650 sensortag. If I were to use one of these devices as the coordinator and establish a serial connection with a micro controller say ESP8266/ESP32, which one should I go with ? Is there a better option for the zigbee coordinator?

  • I would suggest you to use CC2652R1 instead of those chips you listed.
  • You can use the Zigbee SENSOR-TO-CLOUD solution to create a Z-Stack 3.0 Linux Gateway using the CC2530/CC2531 or CC2652R/CC1352P as a ZNP. Z-Stack 3.0.2 is offered for the CC253x devices but is not maintained as regularly as the Z-Stack 3.x.0 which is offered as part of the SIMPLELINK-CC13X2-26X2-SDK. There are several Zigbee coordinator application projects offered on either Z-Stack version.
