CC2652R: Zigbee and Thread Running Concurrently

Part Number: CC2652R

We are looking for a solution to run both Zigbee and Thread concurrently. We have come across the CC2652R.

We would to know if CC2652R and it's associated stack support running both Zigbee and Thread concurrently?

If not can you recommend a SoC to do this.

I think it’s possible but TI doesn’t provide such example.

Does the stack support this feature? If not would it require alot of work to modify the stack to support this feature?

You can refer to dev.ti.com/.../ . As I know, current Stack doesn’t support Zigbee/Thread concurrent mode and it will take lots efforts if you want to do this by yourself.

What about if we run two CC2652R, each running a single protocol (Zigbee/Thread)?
Do you know if interference would be too high to accomplish this? Given that these radio would be on the same PCB.

Do you have any application notes pertaining to this.

Hi,

While we currently do not have an example of this, the latest SDK does offer other examples of our Dynamic Multiprotocol Manger (DMM), including a Zigbee + BLE example. This may be a good starting point.

Both Zigbee and Thread use 802.15.4 as the MAC, which includes the CSMA-CA feature for collision avoidance.

As Toby mentioned in his reply, both Zigbee and Thread uses CSMA-CA so it should be fine to have two CC2652R, each running a single protocol (Zigbee/Thread).
