Hi,

How an end device is getting it's short address? How can we manually set one particular short address to end device by code in Zstack ?

It's assigned by Z-Stack and application cannot do this.

sometimes the end device short address is recovered after powering up and sometimes it is creating another short address .
1. Actually who is giving end device short address?End device it self of coordinator ?
2. Anyway address of coordinator will be always 0x00,right?

If the ZC is assigning a new short address then this is because the ZED has left the network for so long that it has been aged out of the network and removed from association/address tables. Edit: see below

Ryan Brown1 I think if the device is aged out and rejoin, short address should not change. Right?

Hi YK,

I just reviewed the Zigbee Specification and you are correct, short addresses are persistent values that will remain even if a child is aged out. The entry will only be deleted from the parent's neighbor table but it should be able to rejoin even afterwards and would not be assigned a new short address. A sniffer log should be provided from sreedevi proving that this does not occur before we further investigate.

I have another one doubt.We will get the connected devices list(short address) and number of devices connected while using ZDO_IEEE_ADDR_REQ from coordinator by ztool. How we can access the short address of end device using ztool from the end device itself? Is there any commands available?

You can get short address of device itself by accessing to _NIB datastructure (_NIB.nwkDevAddress).

this is from ztsack right?...we have to get this data using ztool. That is we have to send some command from imx to end device chip,so that it should respond with its short address.I s it possible?

If you know device's IEEE address, you can send ZDO_NWK_ADDR_REQ to request short address.

Dont't know the ieee address.Just want to get the short address of end device chip from the imx that is connected to chip via uart.

I remember I repled you to do ZDO_IEEE_ADDR_REQ to itself (0x0000) from coordinator and the response ZDO_IEEE_ADDR_RSP would include association table which would have the list of all connected end device.

That i already mentioned above.We will get the end devices list from coordinator right?.But here what we want is get the short address of end device from end device imx side

OK, I get it now. You can use UTIL_GET_DEVICE_INFO to get it.

I think we can use UTIL_GET_DEVICE_INFO, am i correct?..This command is sent by the tester to retrieve the device info.
