RTOS/CC2652R: Expected power consumption difference in ZR vs ZED switch

Hi TI Team,

We noticed power consumption difference after moving from ZED to ZR switch using Rev E chip and SDK 2.40.

Before commissioning:

6mA (ZED, ZR same)

After commissioning:

3mA (ZED drops)

11.30mA (ZR increases)

Is this still normal behavior?

There is power consumption bug in SDK 2.40 which you can refer to the discussions in e2e.ti.com/.../780659 . You have to wait for bug fixing in next SDK release.

Yes, I am aware of this bug which is seen in our ZED only.

For router mode, what is the expected consumption after commissioning?

It's expected to see 11mA on ZR after commissioning.

Hi Walter,

ZR devices must be always on in order to properly route packets at any given time, therefore active mode current consumption should be expected. This is compared to sleepy end devices which can achieve standby current consumption similar to that documented in SWRA625: www.ti.com/.../swra625a.pdf
