CC2530: router retries association with only one device with highest LQI

I suppose you can disable permit join on ZR1 to avoid association with ZR1.

We have disabled permit join for ZR1. still the ZR2 is trying to associate with ZR1(closest node to ZR2).

if i bring another router closer to ZR2 then it will associate with that router. ( but doing this is not feasible in the field )

Do you use sniffer to check ZR1 actually disable permit join?

Yes, i did

(P.nbr. 7456)here the new node(00124b0012c7ad61) keeps sending request to the coordinator, for association, while the association is disabled.

I don't see any device association to router in your sniffer log.

If you looke at P.nbr 7501 which is beacon frame from router 0xD745, you can see its association bit is 1 and it means permit join enable.

we had enabled the permit join flag for that router, and it associated when we physically brought that router near the new node, earlier when the router was far it was only trying to associate to the coordinator who's association is disabled.

You told me you disable permit join on that ZR before but now you say you don’t. I am confused by your descriptions. Can you elaborate your test again?

Which Z-Stack are you using?

To clarify, I assume that router 00124b0012c7ad61 sends a Beacon Request to router 0xD745 after you move 0xD745 closer to 00124b0012c7ad61 (pkt 7498-7501)?

It may be the case that 00124b0012c7ad61 does not successfully receive the beacon from 0xD745.
(For example, if the receiver on 00124b0012c7ad61 is weak).
Can you try powering off 0x0000 and see if 00124b0012c7ad61 is able to join the network through 0xD745 without needing to move 0xD745 physically closer?

Hi Toby,  you got it right.  Here I am talking about moving 0xd745 towards 00124b0012c7ad61 from 1meter to 10cm,  while 0x0000 is at 30 CM from 00124b0012c7ad61. The node will associate.

To answer your question, 00124b0012c7ad61 is able to join the network through 0xD745 without needing to move 0xD745 physically closer just by enabling the permit join, In a absence of any other device around

00124b0012c7ad61 with higher LQI.

Here is the situation.
Coordinator, ZR1 are in network, distance between them is 1 meter.
ZC ---------------------ZR1
Both have association disabled.

I power up a new device ZR2.
ZC-----ZR2------------ZR1
ZR2 starts making association request to ZC.
Then 1 enable association in ZR1 for 1 min.
ZR2 does only make association request to ZC and is not able to join the network.
After 1 min association is disabled in ZR1

Again I enable association in ZR1 for 1min and move ZR1 closer to ZR2 before the association is disabled.
ZC-----ZR2--ZR1
Now ZR2 makes association request to ZR1 and joins the network through ZR1.

Do you have sniffer log for above description?
