CC2652R: ZigBee 3.x, output power and killer-features

Part Number: CC2652R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SIMPLELINK-CC13X2-26X2-SDK, CC1352P, CC2652P, Z-STACK

Hello.

I have some questions about CC2652R

1. ZigBee 3.x(R23) standard is already announced. Devices from some competitive vendors already support this standard.

Does CC2652R support this standard as well? Or can we provide another solution for this purpose?

2. Output power of CC2652R is equal to +5dBm, while some competitors provide devices with +19dBm power. Could the lower output power be a source of connectivity problems for smart-home network, taking into account a home WiFi network, which also uses 2.4GHz range?

 3. What are the killer-features of CC2652R, which make our solution a head-higher than competitors?

Thank you for support in advance.

  • Hello Slava,

    1. While it is true that R23 has been announced, it will not be ratified and is not expected to be officially released in less than a year from now.  When it does become the latest Zigbee Specification you can be assured that TI will perform the necessary testing to make the SIMPLELINK-CC13X2-26X2-SDK and corresponding devices Zigbee R23 compliant.

    2. I don't expect +5 dBm would be of particular concern for a home solution, especially if using a channel that avoids Wi-Fi interference such as 15, 20, or 25.  The production-ready CC1352P already achieves +20 dBm through an internal PA and samples of the CC2652P will be available soon.

    3. TI's SimpleLink devices offer the lowest power consumption in the market, a robust software solution through quarterly SDK updates and maintenance, and DMM solutions for coexistence of multiple protocols.

You can align with the Marketing Team if you have further questions on any of these topics.

  • z-stack offering a opend underlying architecture. I have optimized many many on z-stack. It supports fault-tolerant transmiting,  and is compatible many many zigbee Device that are produced by different companies.

  • Hi Slava,

Additionally, I did want to highlight that you can see from our latest SDK release, we already enable Zigbee 3.0 on our CC13x2/26x2 platforms: http://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/content/simplelink_cc13x2_26x2_sdk_3_30_00_03/docs/zigbee/release_notes_zigbee_3_5_0.html We also are active members of the Zigbee Alliance and stay up to date with the latest developments.

    Regards,
