CC2530: question about ZigBee patent

Part Number: CC2530
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2630,

Hello Ti friends:

Our products use your chip CC2530 as zigbee gateway and CC2630 as Zigbee sensor. The Zigbee stack or 802.15.4 mac is almost uses your sdk code implemention.

But recently a company called  Sipco challenge us make use of their patents of US applied at 1999. They declare they have zigbee related patents and ask us for a lot of money.

They have push our company to court.

Could you help to get them away since we buy your chip and use your sdk.

Thanks. Very appreciate.

  • Hi Aifei,

While TI offers excellent patent indemnification under TI’s Terms of Sale to TI’s customers, TI does not provide an indemnity for standards-based patents. In general, TI does not comment on patents owned by a third party. TI cannot provide legal advice to you on this matter and suggests that you consult your legal counsel for questions or assistance.

    Regards,

    Katie

  • I would suggest you to consult ZIgbee Alliance to check if Zigbee and 802.15.4 standard infringe the patent of this company.
