CC2538: CC2538 Bootloader Backdoor

Part Number: CC2538

Hello,

is there any way to check if my CC2538 is Bootloader Backdoor mode that would allow me to flash it over just UART converter?

I've bought such a minimalistic board as shown below and after all the reading on the internet I was convinced that they come unflashed from the factory so they default into the Bootloader Backdoor more by default but mine after hooking up to PA0, PA1 pins (and obviously 3.3V, GND) to and UART converter (tried few of them I've never had issues with them) gives me just nothing on the command interface.

Is this an indication that my board was already flashed and has now closed bootloader?

Or even then there should be anything printed out on the UART interface?

Can I still check it somehow?

Sadly I do not own a JTAG programmer :(

  • Hello Uriziel,

SWRA466 is the Serial Bootloader Interface Application Report.  Nothing will print out from the UART interface by default and unless further evaluation is performed I doubt that the JTAG is locked or the board pre-flashed.  You can use SblAppEx to test for yourself.

    Regards,
    Ryan
