Hello Community,
I am working on the CC1352 & CC2538 ZNP devices.
I would like to know about the usecase & the difference between the TC Link Key & the Install code.
Will you please help me to know that?

Install codes enhance network security by avoiding APS encryption of the NWK key using the Global Trust Center Link Key (TCLK) typically required for joining devices. Using the key derived by the install code, which is shared between the Trust Center and joining device, ensures that no globally-known key is used to encrypt data over-the-air. In this part of the lab, we are going to set a shared install code between two devices to demonstrate this functionality. You can read Zigbee spec for details.
Hello YiKai Chen,
Thanks for the information,
I would like know some more.
1. The default TC Link Key value is "ZigbeeAlliance09", is it standard value we have to follow OR we can use any other values?
2. What is the recommended the TC Link Key value?
3. Same for the Install Codes, Is it devices specific or common for all devices?
Regards,
Shiv Patil.
1. You can use your own TC link key but it would make your product not compatible with 3rd party Zigbee 3.0 or HA products.
2. It’s recommended to use default TC Link Key value is "ZigbeeAlliance09".
3. It should be device specific.
Hi,
Agreed with YK.
In addition, perhaps refer to this SimpleLink Academy: https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?a=pTTHBmu__&node=AES5VdxyX-.OXxWoIFsyPg__pTTHBmu__LATEST
Part 1 talks about install codes, and may be used as a reference for using install codes on CC2538.
