CC-DEBUGGER: CC-DEBUGGER win_64bit drivers not recognized by Windows 10

I ordered and received the CC-DEBUGGER. I downloaded the FLASH-PROGRAMMER onto my Windows 10 64-bit PC. It installed under
Program Files (x86)/Texas Instruments/SmartRF Tools/

I downloaded the win_64bit_x64.zip file, unzipped it, and moved the CC-DEBUGGER driver files under
Program Files (x86)/Texas Instruments/SmartRF Tools/Drivers/cebal
(so now there are win_32bit_x86 and win_64bit_x64 folders under there)

Then I connected the CC-DEBUGGER to the laptop and to the CC2531 dongle (plugged into another USB port on the laptop).

In the Device Manager, I’m only seeing the CC Debugger and CC2531 USB Dongle listed under the Other devices folder. There is no cebal folder. I tried restarting the laptop, but it didn’t help.

What am I doing wrong? Should I remove the win_32bit_x86 drivers?

Hi Claudia,

It appears you have referenced the CC-DEBUGGER User's Guide and Quick Start Guide. Did you run the Setup_SmartRF_Drivers-1.2.0.exe from SWRC212? You can refer to the download/installation instructions from SWRA366, although written for Windows 7/Vista it should apply to 10 as well. My own similar OS setup has not experienced any issues but only contains win_64bit_x64 and not_certified folders inside C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\drivers\cebal so you may want to remove the unecessary win_32bit_x86 folder. What error messages do you see when trying to access CC-DEBUGGER with SmartRFTM-STUDIO, FLASH-PROGRAMMER, or IAR?

No, I downloaded my 64bit drivers from https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/other-wireless/f/667/t/675493 and just copied them over to Program Files (x86)/Texas Instruments/SmartRF Tools/Drivers/cebal. After that, I used the zip file method described in section 5.1.2 of SWRA366 to do a driver update.

I'm seeing both the CC-DEBUGGER and the CC2531 USB dongle show up in the device manager under Cebal controlled devices. Now I'm trying to run the SmartRF Flash Programmer, but I'm not seeing the CC2531 under System-On-Chip or MSP430. The CC-DEBUGGER DOES show up under System-On-Chip. Shouldn't I see the CC2531 under System-On-Chip or MSP430?

No, as the CC2531USB-RD does not have an on-board debugger. You should plug it into a power supply, connect the CC-DEBUGGER to the debug pins on the CC2531 board, plug in/reset the CC-DEBUGGER, then program the CC2531 device using FLASH-PROGRAMMER.

So, right now I have both the CC-DEBUGGER and the CC2531 plugged into different USB ports on the laptop (so the CC2531 is getting power from the laptop port). And the small ribbon cable is connecting the CC-DEBUGGER adapter board to the CC2531.

I was told to use the image here - https://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/158/8272.sniffer_5F00_fw_5F00_cc2531.zip - to upgrade the CC2531 so that I can use it with the Ubiqua sniffer. And to upgrade it all I need to do is

- unzip the upgrade file

- Enter the upgrade file path in the Flash image field of the FLASH-PROGRAMMER

- Have Erase, Program and Verify selected

- Hit the Perform actions bar/button

Is that it? Does this seem right?
