This is likely due to the file-system being corrupt.  If you followed the GSG, you should have copied the file-system from montavista directory to something similar to /home/user/workdir/filesys.  I would first try coying the file system again; if that does not work, I would try installing the bin file containing the original file-system (installs in montavista directory)

  • I have tried by unzip the original downloaded file but it doesnt work ,

Currently I am trying using the Uimage form MV5 and its fresh filesystem..

Here is my console,.I have also kept my setenv as well as printenv logs...

Now what if I want to restore my complete MV4 file system back using Uboot & Network.I have TFTP as well as NFS working fine. Please anybody help....

  • from the log message is appears the reason you are not getting the login-prompt is that the boot process is not completing because the system cannot find the Linux file-system.  You have specified

       /opt/mv_pro_5.0/montavista/pro/devkit/arm/v5t_le/target

As the location of the NFS file system on your host; do you have this same exact path defined in your host's /etc/exports file?  Are you sure your NFS service is turned on in your host?  These are the two primary reasons I can think of for the system not being able to mount your file-system.

  • Thank you very much for you reply.. I have checked these possiblities already..But I didnt figure it out what was wrong .So, I start again from zero..Installed LSP n evrything back and its working now fine.

But Still I have unresolved problem of my BAD MEMORY BLOCKS on Flash.

Currently I am using everything on network, Still I cant boot from Flash's YAFFS2 file system. Please suggest me a way to restore it back.I have gone through WIKI & found a way to put my jffs2 image on file using TFFT & uboot but it also loads at  the same address where it loads the kernel. Then How am I suppose to do ,please help !

  • I had the same problem - trying to log in as root and being asked for a password.  I believe the problem is caused by your /etc/exports file.  I had

    /home/tfischer *(rw,sync,no_subtree_check)

based on the instructions at http://tiexpressdsp.com/index.php/Linux_Host_Configuration_-_Ubuntu

When I changed /etc/exports to have

    /home/tfischer *(rw,no_root_squash,sync,no_subtree_check)

    and then ran

    sudo /usr/sbin/exportfs -va

I was able to log into my target hardware as root without being asked a password.
