Hyperlink connect to FPGA

Hi,

According to threads before, Ti is cooperating with a FPGA vendor to implement a Hyperlink interface IP. I was wandering if the vendor is Altera? Specifically, there will be a Stratix 4 EP4SGX230KF40C2 and a C6678 on my board, can I connect Hyperlink to the SERDES based transceiver of the FPGA directly? Will the IP open or need to be pay for? When can we get this IP?

We are stil working to release the IP on FPGA. We are still several months away and will provide more detailed information on specific FPGA platforms, licensing, and collateral as we get closer to release. Please stay tuned.

Thanks for your reply.

My board is under layout now. It's for sure that TI will finally release the info. I just want to make sure that if the way I mentioned is doable. So when TI and the FPGA vendor release the IP I can use it on my board.

Update on the FPGA IP schedule: The latest status is that we are working toward our first release on Altera Stratix-IV end-2Q followed by Stratix-V and Xilinx Kintex-7 end-3Q.

We'll announce pointers to early collateral as soon as we can.

We are working to have Altera Stratix-IV and Xilinx Kintex-7 releases during this quarter.
- Stratix IV Beta release mid/end May, production release (25Gpbs) mid/end June
- Kintex 7 Beta release mid/end June, production release mid/end July

The IP is being released through our partner Integre, and they have created a landing page for their connectivity card and IP core. Content is not posted yet, but will come soon with the beta release. Here’s the link:

What datarate supported (25 or 50 Gbps) on Kintex 7 beta release? Is there a plan to release 50 Gbps version soon?

Hi Nazmul -

The current Kintex-7 HyperLink IP product will support 6.25 Gbps for a total of 25 Gbps. Beta release of the Kintex-7 is July 2012, full production release in August. We do have a 2X/50Gbos version of the HyperLink core on the roadmap for early 2013.
