C674x: Connection between two McASP ports

Our customer wants to connect via McASP between C6747 and AM3357. Unfortunately the terminals for HPI which C6747 has are used for EMIFA.

I checked the following posts. It seems to be able to connect between two McASP ports because McASP is available as a general-purpose serial ports.

Is there any information to implement this? Are there the application note and the sample code?

Daisuke,

Yes, you can use McASP to interface between C6747 and AM3357. The two threads that you referred has pretty much confirmed this. I don't think there is an application note available for this implementation.

Hi Senthil-san,

Our customer wants to use multiple serial data pins AXR[n] for connection between two McASP ports.

Generally, the multiple serial data pins AXR[n] are used for a multichannel audio system. Is there the example for a multichannel connection, i.e. ADCs to McASP or McASP to DACs? Is there the application note or the sample code?

Hi Senthil-san,

To connect between two McASP ports, is an external high-frequency clock (AHCLKX or AHCLKR) needed?

In AM335x side, the AHCLKX and AHCLKR pins may be not available because these pins can be used as the serial data AXR2/3 pins.

I will try connection between two McASP ports by using two EVM, i.e. TMDSOSKL137 and TMDSICE3359, which have McASP signals on each expansion connector.

My connection plan as follows:
