VDDS_DSI and AM3505 - Is there a need for a VDDS_DSI regulator?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3505, AM3517

Hello,

We ran into an issue where the Linux omapdss driver would refuse to run because it couldn't find a  VDDS_DSI regulator. Our design does not have such a regulator because it seems there is no such thing as an VDDS_DSI input pin. I made a patch to prevent searching and using a regulator on am35xx, and noticed that this had been done before [1], but nothing was merged. Apparently there is doubt about whether or not this was applicable to am3505/17.

I would like to solve this problem with a valid and clean solution but I am confused. In the technical manual[1],  I see mention of a vdds_dsi pin but I cannot find a corresponding ball in am3505.pdf nor am3517.pdf.

Could anyone from TI please help me clarify this?

  • What is the vdds_dsi pin we see in the manual[1]?
  • Is it in fact connected internally? If so, what to?
  • Can you confirm a VDDS_DSI regulator is not something applicable to am3505?
