C6745 Connect to PRSC failed

Dear All:

Firstly,  I want to confirm one thing :   my C6745 platform has passed connecting test with my emulator (XDS560) .

Assume I have already configured the PLL0 correctly , Does the DSP core portion begin to run correctly  at currently ?

what the real status of DSP we can judge from the JTAG connecting test success  ?

 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then  I add my GEL file to debug and load it into my board,  The tool pop-up an error message  :

unexpected  startup_ALLpower_on()    ----->  It's defined  to enable the power of the DSP chip. This GEL file is modified from evm_omap_L137.gel.

connecting to the target Connect to PRSC failed

what's the means of this error information ?  who can give me some suggestion to debug ?

 BR !

 Jintao

  • Jintao,

I have never seen an error message like this. It sounds like it is catching a syntax error of some type. Please re-read through your GEL file and particularly look at the things you have modified from the L137's GEL file.

  • HI, RandyP:

    Thank you for reply !

Could you explain my other two questions which are mentioned above ?

    1.  what's the DSP core portion working status when connecting(amulator and device) test has successed ?

Does it means DSP core portion has begin to work after JTAG testing PASS ?

    2. What's the  message means of connect PRSC failed?

Could you share your experience or suggestion ?

    BR !

    Jintao

  • Jintao,

The JTAG scan-test only tests the JTAG scan chain of logic that allows access to the cores and other components. The JTAG scan-test does not directly use or logically connect to any of the cores.

Since you had another error message prior to the Connect to PRSC message, that first one is what you need to try to debug first. Assuming you know about the PRSC and what it is, the message is just telling you that some command that tried to connect to the PRSC failed. Since the PRSC deals with power, and the first error message had to do with power, and failed, that first message is where you should debug first.

Find the GEL command that leads to this message by removing things from the OnTargetConnect function in the GEL file. This will let you know what is going wrong to generate that message.

  • Dear Randyp:

    Thanks for your reply !

I have understood JTAG scan-test portion.

It have connect  with my target  success only once ,when it connect with the target it can run a application of hello world,But  when i power off  my target and power on it ,reconnect with it,a error message C674X_0: Error connecting to the target: Connect to PRSC failed   display again.and it  can't connect  success  any  more !

Then i checked the REST 、the 1.2-1.3v of every  pin 、the 3.3v of every  pin 、the clock, everything seems ok.I don't know how to deal with this problem!!

    Regards,

    Jintao,

  • Jintao,

It is important to know the exact steps you go through. Before you power off your board, you should Disconnect Target on the C674x in the Debug Window. Then you may need to do Reset Emulator after powering the board back on and before trying to Connect Target again. In some cases, it may be required to Re-Launch the Target Configuration after a power cycle, and in rare cases you may need to close and restart CCS and even disconnect & power cycle the emulator, too.

  • Dear RandyP :

Thank you your good helps so far !

we have fixed this issue . The root cause on my board is clock not stable during power on .

  • Hi All,
how you fixed the clock.please let me know.]
    thank you.
