Video support in android for DM8168

Hi,

I have following queries regarding Android support on DM8168:

  1. When next android release for DM8168 will be available?
  2. Does current release (Gingerbread) support video capture, encode, decode, playback functionality on DM8168 EVM?
  3. If current release does not support video capture/encode/decode/playback functionality, Is there any porting guide available which I can follow and do it on my own. (I am very much aware with the DM8168 Linux software components (ezsdk))

  • Hi all,

We do have few additional queries for Android support on DM8168.

    - When can we expect 1080P capture-encode support in Android SDK ? Will capture-encode support be OpenMax based or it will be based on V4L2 ? If it is V4L2, will it support multi channel 1080P capture ?

    - We want to capture two 1080P streams from two 2D cameras and need to generate 3D out of this two channels before encoding. What is the best possible way to do this in Android SDK ?

    - Is it possible to do this in DSP ? Can we get the captured video on DSP before sending to encoder with existing android SDK ?  Is there any future plan to have this feature ?

    - On display front, we would like to generate side by side 1080P video to send this video data to 3D TV from HDMI ? Is there any sample demo to demonstrate side by side 3D display over HDMI.

    - Do you have any skype demo developed/integrated on Android for any platform ?

Any help on above will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Sweta

  • Regarding Multichannel capture,

We will support multiple instance capture on V4L2, where by user will be able to capture upto 4 video channels while capturing in 8-bit mode and upto 2 video channels while capturing in 16-bit mode. Multiple channnel  wont be supported on V4L2 where we receive multiplexed video channels on single channel.
