LMH1981 with Macrovision-encoded Input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH1981

I'm using the LMH1981 in an Analog Video to SDI converter, which works fine EXCEPT when the analog input video has MAcrovision encoding on it. I've seen earlier versions of the LMH1981 data sheet which suggests the extra Macrovision Hsync pulses are "...effectively ignored...", which has been true with some prototypes I've built. On others, though, the Macrovision seems to 'confuse' the LMH1981, resulting in various behaviors for the LMH1981 Hsync output, including:

  • The LMH1981 Hsync output is missing a pulse, during or slightly after the Macrovision Hsyncs appear at the input
  • The LMH1981 Hsync output stops putting out Hsync pulses for awhile (like 10 msec or more), again slightly after the macrovision Hsyncs
  • The LMH1981 Hsync output pulses are at (or approx) half the proper rate for awhile (like above), slightly after Macrovision Hsyncs

I see the current (2007) LMH1981 datasheet makes no mention of Macrovision at all, so I'm wondering whether or not I should expect LMH1981 to handle these correctly. Please let me know. Thanks!
