CC2540 programming

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2540

Dear sir,

I'm new in TI devices, before I used microchip, but in this application I need a bluetooth device, so I ordered a development kit, and I downloaded the IAR workspace. I had tried to compile the sample project, but I got the following error message: Fatal Error[Pe005]: could not open source file "ioCC2540.h".

I'm a beginner with this workspace, so I don't know where can I find this file.

Best regard,

Robert.

  • You need a patch available from IAR.

You can download this patch from IAR's customer page called "My Pages" -- http://iar.com/website1/1.0.1.0/489/1/ (login required). When looking for updates for EW8051 v7.51 this is patch #6 , called "EW8051-7.51L.zip".

  • That's right.

If you are using IAR EW8051 v7.51A you will need to install minimum additional patch #6 for v7.51 ("EW8051-7.51L.zip") from IAR to get the required device files and debugger driver update to support the new CC2540 devices.

If you are using IAR EW8051 v7.60 you will also need to install additional patch #6 for v7.60 ("EW8051-7.60.4.zip") from IAR to get the needed CC2540F128 and CC2540F256 device files and full chip support.

The patches are available for download from IAR's "My Pages" login section.

  • Thank you very much, that was usefull ;)

    Have a good day.

  • I tried to find this patch on the IAR website but it seems that one must be fully registered for the Workbench to allow this download. The registeration for the Eval version doesn't allow access to this patch. Can this patch be posted somewhere else perhaps on this site?

  • For an evaluation version, you should follow the link "Login to view your free Evaluation and KickStart editions" rather than "Login to My Pages". Then you should be able to download the patch. (I haven't had a chance to test this myself, as I haven't registered for an evaluation version.)

  • The link "Login to view your free Evaluation and KickStart editions" is not available anymore, hence Evaluation Licence users don't have access to the patches anymore (needed to compile the demo projects for the CC2540 MDK). (correct me if i'm wrong)

you might wanna add a note in the quickstart guide that the patch is needed to be able to write your own software

Edit: you can find the patches needed in this post: http://e2e.ti.com/support/low_power_rf/f/538/p/71677/260220.aspx
