Which device qualification status prefix is more expensive in general?

Hello,

This is a simple and general question about the price of DSPs based on their qualification status prefix. Consider I want to buy one of the DSPs of C55x series, for an academic purpose. Any of TI's DSP based on TI nomenclature system could have any of prefixes listed below.

TMX = Experimental device
TMP = Prototype device
TMS = Qualified device
SMJ = MIL-STD-883C
SM = High Rel (non-883C)

I want to know which one is more expensive and if there is a relation between these prefixes and the price of a DSP. As I know e.g. a device with the prefix SM has a higher price in comparison with another with TMS prefix.
In addition, if we want to sort the devices based on their qualification status prefix, from up to down, how could that list be?

Thanks for checking our devices.

TMX and TMP are only available for purchase until TMS material become available. TMX material can be more expensive than TMS material, but this is not necessarily a rule, it will depend case by case.

For sure SMJ and SM material are more expensive due the tests and specs of these devices, and you can check the price relation by going to the product folder of these devices and compare the 1K price that is available in the TAB called "order now".

You said, TMX and TMP are only available for purchase until TMS becomes available. That's right and is this due to the number of production? For example I guess the number of devices with prefix TMS are a lot more that others with the prefix TMX because the first ones are double checked and have passed the commercial and technical standards and more reliable in comparison with the others?

Houssein,

TMX and TMP are preproduction material so we only produce them until we have the device qualified, and it becomes TMS.
